Are the rooms en—suite?
Yes, some of the rooms have toilet, basin and bath or shower, others have a basin and toilet.
Can I bring my own furniture?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own furniture. We would ask you to be realistic in the amount you bring, and would prefer if possible that you do not bring in wardrobes or beds, as we then have to remove the existing items and store them. In addition some beds have such low sides that it is impossible to clean under them.
Can I see a menu?
Yes, copies of the menu are available on the website or available from Eve Peskett, the Manager. The menus rotate on a four weekly basis. Twice a year we hold a residents' meeting to discuss the menus and at this time they are changed in consultation with the residents.
Do the fees include laundry?
Yes, the fees include the in—house laundering, and ironing where necessary, of your personal laundry. There is no charge for this. We do ask that your clothing be marked, or that you allow us to mark it discreetly so that it can be easily identified.
Do you help with baths and dressing?
Yes, help with bathing washing and dressing are all part of the care we would expect to provide when needed. We have special baths that make getting in and out of a bath more easy.
Do you take residents for appointments?
Yes, although where possible we would encourage family or friends to take residents for appointments. We are finding that changes within the NHS mean that a resident's hospital appointment can require several hours of a member of staff's time plus parking and other expenses. As a result we now reserve the right to make a charge to help defray the costs incurred.
Do you take residents for trips or excursions?
Yes, trips out are an integral part of our activities program. We have a small minibus that can carry wheelchairs. Visits are made in small groups to local attractions such as gardens, tea rooms, garden centres and shopping trips.
How many residents do you have?
Under our registration we are allowed up to forty residents.
What activities do you have?
Our current activities include a gardening club, a knitting circle, singing, music and movement, quizzes, outings for shopping, drives in the country and visits to local attractions. Our philosophy is that activities should be as informal as possible so that they can be carried out in a relaxed and social atmosphere. Consequently some activities can be as simple as discussing the day's news or printing out pictures taken in the garden. One activity can often lead to the development of another, and we try to tailor our activities to the needs of our residents.
What extras will I have to pay for?
You will have to pay for newspapers, hairdressing, chiropody and manicures. We will bill you for these items on behalf of the people supplying the service, however we act purely as agents for them and make no profit. We also reserve the right to make a charge for taking you to appointments.
Will I be moved on when I need more care?
When you move into Windlesham Manor we, together with you, will assess your care requirements and draw up a program to meet them. We fully realize that these requirements may change or increase, and we will adapt or increase the care you receive to meet them. Windlesham Manor is your home, and in the vast majority of cases we will be able to meet your care requirements, and you will not need to move on. We are legally bound however to ask you to move on if, in the opinion of a qualified medical practitioner, Windlesham Manor is no longer suitable for you. We would also ask you to leave if in our opinion you represented a risk to the health and welfare of yourself or other residents or staff.
