Windlesham Manor residents enjoyed a gorgeous Christmas lunch with family and friends on December 19th. Staff got into the festive spirit by dressing as elves and the spacious lounge area was decorated brightly in Christmas colours!
Later in the afternoon residents were entertained by Pamela Marsh, a local singer performing a range of Christmas favourites.
Windlesham Manor is trialling weekly “Toddler and Residents” sessions organised by Crowborough group Artytime.
It is becoming more widely accepted that both older and younger generations can benefit from these sorts of interactions, which can be life affirming for the elder generation and a chance for the younger generation to benefit from increased attention and develop their social and emotional skills.
The sessions will last about an hour and a half and toddlers and infants will play and interact with the residents as well as do some simple crafts and have a snack together.
Residents, family members and staff enjoyed the eagerly awaited Windlesham Manor Summer Garden Party on Friday August 17th. It was the first time that the party was held slightly later in the day taking advantage of the warm weather into the evening.
Some great rock and roll 1950s hit music was provided by the guitar swinging duo, Rock n’ rolls runaways while children and adults alike took advantage of having some fun temporary tattoos added to their hands and arms by the tattoo art by Kimbeley
A delicious spread of savoury followed by sweet dishes was provided by our resident chef Martin Higgins outdoors and under gazebos set in the beautiful Windlesham Manor gardens which had been decorated with balloons and shiny old records!
For the younger visitors a bouncy castle was set up for a few hours of happy bouncing
Well, finally it has arrived – the summer, with a diversity of offers to ensure plenty of events and activities. Throughout the spring and during the dark months of the winter we have tried to keep the spirits up by arranging parties, entertainment, outings, been active with Simon but in the back of our minds we have all been looking forward to lazy afternoons in the garden with a glass of Pimms or an ice lolly.
To create more quality time for staff and residents in the garden we decided to invest in a new care plan program. This to help the staff with their care documentation and paper work, spending less time carrying around folders and struggle with not finding a working pen etc. The new system is also for quality assurance, confirming all staff provides support as agreed between staff and residents.
This summer will have quite a few events lined up with our annual garden party for friends and families of Windlesham Manor one of them. The big day will be on the 23rd August and the theme of the day will be Mexican. Other events are dependent on the weather which will determine if we will have a BBQ or not. We managed to squeeze in a BBQ party between the showers on 5th June challenging the weather forecast. And we look forward for more to come!
Happy New Year!
Looking back on the months gone by,
As a new year starts and an old one ends,
We reflect on what brought us joy,
And we think of our loved ones and our friends.
Recalling all the happy times,
Remembering how they enriched our lives,
We reflect upon who really counts,
As the fresh and bright New Year arrives.
